Rune Project - Kenaz

Whan that aprill

Sometimes you just have tangle.... this is on Canson Illustration board. It's a soothing surface for the micron pens. This was very relaxing.

The Rune Project is my main focus. I have finished 6 more runes. I think I'll post them separately so I can use the posts as a means of organization.

The Canterbury Tales - Prologue in Middle English
by Geoffrey Chaucer

Whan that aprill with his shoures soote
The droghte of march hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour
Of which vertu engendred is the flour;
Whan zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
Tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the ram his halve cours yronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,
That slepen al the nyght with open ye
(so priketh hem nature in hir corages);
Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages,
And palmeres for to seken straunge strondes,
To ferne halwes, kowthe in sondry londes;
And specially from every shires ende
Of engelond to caunterbury they wende,
The hooly blisful martir for to seke,
That hem hath holpen whan that they were seeke.

Power Dropped Tangling Continues

An unexpected power outage fried my cable modem and cable box so I'm just now getting around to posting these.  Apparently, posting from my Samsung Tablet is going to require an expenditure of brain power. You'd think mobile blogging would be easier. Above is "Bonsai" because I felt like it. I'm procrastinating on starting my study of the runes. I think I want to make them smaller. This is a bit large and I tend to stick with the same tangle to use up space.

This combines several recent Diva Challenges. I'm not quite brave enough to post my link on her site. She has some very accomplished tanglers and I'm a rank novice.  This combines the newest official tangle Rixty and  the challenge to use my initials as a string. I'm afraid I wasn't very creative that night. I also wanted to try the colors on the tan colored cardstock. I'm not sure how the cardstock would stand up to wet blending so I did the best I could with the stump.  I really can't see very well on this colored paper. But, I love the effect.

More tangling on watercolor. Just for fun - I attempted another Diva Challenge to use Quandary. I'm not sure it turned out quite as I thought it would but a few circles transformed it into flowers. There are no mistakes in Zentangle.

Fun on pale yellow cardstock with blue Micron ink and a bit o soft gray shading. this is a Zendala but I'm still having trouble planning them out.
BE as a greeting card.  I think I like the first one better and this one was challenging. Maybe I was just tired. It was fun and I see some elements I'm going to carry forth. Whimsy is such a release for me.

Next I need to start focusing on the rune project so I can start packing up my fancy supplies for the big move. We had our home inspected by the buyers on Friday..... This could be it (with guarded enthusiasm as not to jinx it).  I should also think of something for Miss May's upcoming birthday. Maybe I'll just give her the blue teapot.

Another attempt

Playing with the whole greeting card thing again
Below is attempt 2 at the peeking bunny. Thank you, Jean for helping make this bunny a little less bizarre and creepy.

When April Showers

Just playin with the painted paper

My first official Zendala. Stressful - I keep wanting to balance it and center it; but I know that isn't necessary. Actually, I'm pleased with how this turned out.

 Playing with my new Prismacolor watercolor pencils to see how the color works. Interesting. This tangle is on Bristol board.

We went to IHOP and the girls loved the bunny clings peeking around the corners. I decided to try a Easter card with a peeking bunny.  Gel pens, Inktense pencils

Haven't been tangling as much this week. I have bows I need to make and some custom orders to get out.

Old Rhymes

My mother saved this verse I wrote. I didn't remember it; but it does express my awe at the tenacity of the little chickadees that overwinter in the snow.  Written for Jean's Advent spiral (Waldorf thing)

A Spiral Verse for Winter
                             by Lynn Tatro  1993

When the stars shone brightly,
and it snowed lightly,
The chickadee snuggled
in her small snow cave.
To live through winter
one must be brave.
We go on rightly,
until the sun shines brightly.

White on Color Fun

Decided to play around with something different tonight - sharpies, gelly roll pen, bristol board.  I was going to color the bars black but after I got it tangled I decided I'd just leave them white. I need to go find some tutorials about shading with the white graphite. I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing with it. And the next scnaner I buy is going to scan 12" !

April Tangles

Tiffany Tangles says anything goes this month for the swap. So, I'm playing around a bit. Not sure I will swap these yet though. Below is another foolish doodle just for grins. I was so tired after getting up early for 3 days to get Maybelle to her state required testing that I was a little punchy. The pen goes where it wills when you fall asleep midtangle.  Yes, the one below is with a blue Micron pen. I really prefer tangling on the official tiles. That paper is so special.

Birdies Build Your Nest

I was playing about with this nest on some wet on wet painted watercolor. I got a little close to the edge so.... this is a work in progress. I think I may add some words and maybe some spray ink. Who knows?

Playing with white on black
