I'm trying something new these days. These are ceramic coasters that I painted using my inktense pencils. I sealed them with varnish but I think I need a better way to seal them because they stick to the bottom of hot mugs. Also the varnish is shiny and I'm afraid that the glass will slip off the coaster if it is wet. It's fun. I do still enjoy this craft.

Inktober Despite It All!
Shattered - A bit like how I've been feeling lately. Many disappointments and yet a multitude of joys.
I live in the transitions; but, somehow as I get older, I want the transitions to be more permanent and plentiful. It's not all black and white. Life is messy. Seems wholeness implies separation.

The dictionary definition describes a garden "teeming" with flowers. I like that idea.

And Inktober Flows On
Day 8 - prompt Screech... So here's a little "Screech" Owl
I love Squirrels and acorns and oak trees. Right now the Oaks are in full color. It's a beautiful autumn. This little squirrel found a "gigantic" acorn.

Inktober 4 - Underwater
Got it done early today! Yup - procrastinating on the pile of work I must finish today. Always surprises me where these prompts take me. I had something else totally different in mind. I do like the fish.... I'm not very good at representational drawing. When I was very young, like maybe 9, our class went to the Walker Art Museum to see Andy Worhol's work. Abstract art for a young midwestern, suburban girl was a giant stretch. I clearly remember pondering a large sculpture of French fries. I didn't get it. The mere mention of abstract, modern, avant garde... would shut me down entirely. And, here I am doing mostly abstract art 50 years later. LOL
I think I finally understood art when I went to the Smithsonian's Mark Rothko color field painting installation. It was quite moving. I teared up. I finally "got it!" I still love Rothko's work. And, now am most inspired by Peter Deligdish www,peterdraws.com I have permission to be free.

Inktober 3 - Poison
Actually, I inked a card today as well; but forgot to take a picture before I shipped it. This was a long day - 3 hours of sleep, projects on deadline went sideways, medical testing, need to find my original social security card (darn thing is 45 years old so not exactly something I keep in my wallet), and lots of Pokemon Go (FINALLY caught an Entei).
Today's prompt is POISON. Yeah - I feel poisoned. Poison is sneaky, vaporous, sinister, personal, acrid.... and yet seems everywhere these days. Poison in our food, in our air, in our water, in our ears, in our vision, in our emotions....
